Arusha (coffee Tour Experience)

Upon arrival, you will embark on a captivating coffee tour experience where you can discover the journey of coffee from bean to cup. A guided tour to the lodge's lush coffee plantation, where knowledgeable staff share insights into the cultivation and harvesting process. Guests have the opportunity to handpick ripe coffee cherries and learn about the intricate art of coffee bean processing, from pulping to drying. The tour culminates in a tasting session, where guests can savor freshly brewed coffee made from beans grown on the estate, accompanied by delicious pastries. Throughout the experience, guests are immersed in the sights, smells, and flavors of Tanzania's renowned coffee culture, gaining a newfound appreciation for this beloved beverage.

Tarangire National Park

We think you’ll be impressed with Tarangire National Park. Most visitors love the distinct shapes of the baobab trees silhouetted against the sky that make this place feel like a fairy-tale African landscape. Or visitors remember the elephants that roam in family bands everywhere throughout the park. If you’re lucky, you’ll also encounter the big cats – lions especially, but also cheetahs and leopards – that are always a possibility here. And there’s a fair degree of certainty that you will tick wildebeest, giraffe, hippo, buffalo and zebra off your wildlife-viewing list.

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro is truly a remarkable destination, and descending onto the crater floor offers an unparalleled safari experience in Africa. As you venture into this natural wonder, you'll encounter a diverse array of wildlife, including the crater's 600-strong population of hyenas and critically endangered black rhinos. Keep an eye out for elephants with larger-than-average tusks and the majestic lions that call the crater home. However, it's not just the wildlife that makes Ngorongoro unforgettable; it's the breathtaking beauty of the landscape. From the early morning mist rising from the crater to the steep, forested walls and the hidden waterways where hippos wallow, every moment in Ngorongoro is filled with wonder and enchantment, leaving a lasting impression on your soul.

You're in for one of the best safari experiences you can have on your guided game drive through Ngorongoro Crater. As you explore the crater floor, your guide will help you look for lions, black rhinos, spotted hyenas and so much more.

One of the best places to stay between Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, Marera Valley Lodge helps you escape the busy roads and tourist trails of northern Tanzania. Day 5

Lake Eyasi

You'll be up before breakfast today, as you'll be joining the Hadzabe Bushmen for the opportunity to hunt for your own food!

One of the last true bushman tribes in Africa, the Hadzabe live very much as they always have despite the rapid development of Tanzania. With only 2,000 members, the Hadzabe tribes are a fascinating people who offer us a window into how life in Tanzania was in the past.

The local hunters will prepare a demonstration of hunting techniques just for us. Far from being a mere performance, this display reveals a great deal about their everyday lives when they must hunt for animals to feed their families. You will see firsthand how the Hadzabe use distinctive motions and even the body parts of certain animals to lure their prey close enough that they can be brought down with hand-crafted poisons.

You can also pay a visit to the people of the Datoga tribe while you're in the area. The Datoga are farmers who keep animals such as cows, sheep, and goats. Their culture is another fascinating example of Tanzania's cultural diversity.

Mto wa Mbu

Walk along the main street of Mto Wa Mbu which is strung out along the road close to the gate for Lake Manyara National Park. It’s a busy and engaging little town where safari tourists mingle with Tanzanians from all across the country. You’ll soon get a feel for the diversity of tribal cultures (members of all Tanzania’s 120 tribal groups live here) and the sometime frenetic, sometimes laid-back pace of local life.

As your safari comes to an end, we look back on our time together and the wonderful safari memories that we've shared. It's been an amazing journey and although we say goodbye as your tour ends, we look forward to welcoming you back with us again one day.
